Does a university visit help?

You've done the hard bit - completing and sending off your UCAS application - but there are likely to still be many questions that you’ll want answering before making that final decision.  In this blog, I hope to be able explain how a visit on an Applicant Day can help in making that decision.

We receive literally thousands of applications ever year and do our utmost to respond as soon as possible.  However, if you've not yet heard from us, try not to worry and remember we are only a phone call away if you are looking for an update on your application.  And once you've received all your offers, there’s no need to rush into any decisions.  It’s better to weigh up all your options and not put all your eggs into one basket, ideally by picking both a Firm and Insurance choice.

Think about what’s most important to you: the course; the campus; the city; the support on offer; the transport links… ?  And most importantly, ensure you visit the university.  Even if you've already attended one of our Open Days, a second visit is always a good idea, after all, you wouldn't buy a house or a car after only seeing it once!
Applicant Days are your chance to come and have a look around the University and find out whether you can see yourself studying here at Chester.  An Applicant Day offers a more personalised experience than an Open Day with tailored subject sessions, opportunities to speak to current students and tours of the campus.  And, more often than not, you’ll have an opportunity to ask that question that, perhaps, there just wasn't time to on an Open Day.  To get the most out of the day, make sure you come prepared so that, when you leave, all your questions have been answered.

Speak to our Student Ambassadors and ask what it’s really like to be a student at Chester from their perspective.  You won’t miss them on the day as they will be wearing bright orange t-shirts and fleeces!  The Student Ambassadors will know better than staff where the best places are to go in the city centre, where the best student deals are and what it’s like to live and study at Chester.

Applicant Days are tailored around you so this is your opportunity to make sure you see and do everything you want to on the day.  If you've got any questions about your course, student support or accommodation, speak to staff on the day… that’s what we’re here for and we’re always happy to help.
There are several Applicant Days taking place on various Wednesdays and Saturdays from January – May.  So there are plenty of opportunities available to come and see why Chester has won the Most Improved Student Experience at the Times Higher Education (THE) 2012 Awards, a category voted for by students themselves.

Hope to see at an Applicant Day you soon!
Sarah
